Coach Gum to leave the Pioneers

2003 Season to be last at BHS

On Monday, January 27th Coach Allen Gum informed the Pioneers that this would be his last year at Batesville. At the end of the 2003 season he will be pursuing one of his personal goals, that of coaching at the college level. While he has enjoyed his 10 years of coaching high school baseball, he now feels it is time to move on. While he can not speak specifically of his future opportunities, he did state that they are at an NCAA division I or a NCAA division II school. He is looking forward to coaching at college, since this will allow him to concentrate on coaching baseball and recruiting young talent for his team.
