Pioneers defeated by Greenbrier Panthers
JV vs Midland rescheduled to Wed. @ 3:30
JV vs Salem scheduled for Wed. is Cancelled
Green County Tech Driving Directions

In a non-conference game at Greenbriers' very nice
new facility the Pioneers were defeated 8-7 after
9 inning of play. Again, errors and 1 inning of
hitting by the Panthers were key to the defeat. While
the Pioneers had 9 hits they were concentrated among
only 4 Pioneer batters.

3 innings. In the 1st inning lead off Francis doubles, is
scored by Gatlin who also doubles and Gatlin is scored by
Fletcher on a base hit. (3-0 Pioneers). In the 3rd, Francis
again leads off with a walk, and is joined by Smith on a double.
They will score on 2 consecutive sac fly's by Gatlin and Burba.
Greenbrier will answer with an unearned run (5-1 Pioneers).
In the 4th, Skinner will reach base on a HP (What a surprise)
and be scored by Francis on a base hit. Reliever Rayford will
enter the game for the Pioneers and the Panthers will score big
with 4 runs on 3 hits, 1 walk and an HP. Rogers will relieve him
and allow 1 additional run on 1 hit and 2 walks (6-5 Panthers).
Gatlin will lead off the 5th with a nice solo home run, Fletcher
will provide an additional run after walking. He will be scored
by Davis on a sac fly. Closer Gatlin takes the mound and allows
1 run on a walk (7-7). The game will remain tied until the bottom
of the 9th when a 2 out single combines with a fielding error to
leave a Panther runner at third. He will score on a long fly ball
to the outfield to bring the final score to 8 - 7 Greenbrier.

Rules Review Disclaimer: These interpretations are my own. They may well be incorrect. I try to research
them well before I use them, but the rules of baseball, which seem very simple, often are not. The point of the
review is to stimulate thought and to clarify situations that I know have presented difficulties in the past.
So my apoligies in advance for any mistakes that may creep in.
